ESO concert helps boost ELF funds

A refreshing start to 2015 for Exeter Symphony Orchestra.

The Exeter Symphony Orchestra performed to a full house for their first concert of 2015 on March 14th and at the start of the second half were delighted to donate £150 to the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF).

The funds came from donations for refreshments served during ESO concert intervals at the United Reformed Church in Southernhay.

Chairman Miles Leonard presented a cheque to the Lord Mayor, Councillor Percy Prowse, who has chosen to support ELF during his term in office, and who is also President of ESO.

The Lord Mayor's chosen charity, Exeter Leukaemia Fund, will be hosting a Wedding Fayre in the historic Guildhall.

Meet a range of local wedding suppliers dedicated to making your special day perfect. The Lord Mayor's Charity Wedding Fayre will take place on Sunday 22 March 2015 from 10.00am to 4.00pm, in aid of the Lord Mayor's Charity. This event is free to the public.

Those who attend will be asked to leave their contact details for the chance to get married in the Guildhall for free* - a prize worth £600!

Storage firm lends Santa a hand

Elf to create family room at RD&E

The Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) has invested £30,000 to help realise the idea of building a family room for Haematology patients at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The local charity has invested the funds to develop and plan out the reworking of space in the Haematology Centre to accommodate an area where critically ill patients can enjoy time and privacy with their families. Treasure hunt brings riches for ELF

A treasure hunt around Southernhay, organised by the Exeter office of property consultancy JLL, has raised £380 for Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) - a local charity that supports people affected by leukaemia, lymphoma and other blood conditions.

Eight teams from businesses across Exeter took part in JLL’s first Southernhay Treasure Hunt, each battling it out to be the first team back to base having successfully solved all the clues. The winning team was from financial company Investec Wealth & Investment.

Exeter Chamber helps raise hundreds for local charities

Exeter Chamber of Commerce helped eight local charities raise over £900 at their Christmas Charity Auction Lunch last week, held at the Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel.

Paul Nero, chief executive of Radio Exe was the auctioneer on the day, taking bids from over 100 business people that were in attendance. Items for auction included an Exeter Chiefs Rugby weekend experience for two, in aid of St Loyes Foundation, and a beautiful framed print of the cover photo of the BBC Radio Devon Countryside Calendar from Devon Community Foundation.

ELF offers a helping hand this Christmas

At Exeter Leukaemia Fund, we know that the cost of Christmas can be expensive particularly those receiving medical treatment and are unable to work.

We are always looking to help and support patients and loved ones who suffer from leukaemia and other blood conditions, particularly during the festive period.

All haematology patients along with their loved ones who have appointments or treatments at the Haematology Centre, RD&E Hospital in December will be offered a hot drink and a mince pie from Cafe ELF which is situated in the reception area of the Haematology Centre...

Haematology patients helped by ELF funded Exeter CAB Service

In May 2013 Exeter Leukaemia Fund launched the third offering in their Community Support Programme when they entered into an agreement with Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau to offer welfare and benefits advice to Haematology patients and their loved ones. New Exeter Leukaemia Fund Trustee appointed - Dr Richard Lee

Exeter Leukaemia Fund is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Richard Lee as a Trustee of the charity.

Richard who lives in Exeter has been a wonderful friend and supporter of ELF for over 25 years. Dr Lee, until his retirement in 2010 was a Consultant Haematologist at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital for over 25 years. In the latter part of his career, Richard also ran clinics at North Devon District Hospital.
