A day of play in Teignbridge

Families have the chance to celebrate summer in one of Teignbridge’s open spaces as National Playday comes up next month.

Some of the district’s best places will be filled with fun and games as part of the event, which sees thousands of children and their families get out playing at hundreds of community events across the UK.

Exeter's Right Honourable Lord Mayor Councillor Rachel Lyons attended a dazzling display of talent by Stage by Stage students on Sunday 14 July at Exeter Corn Exchange.

Stage by Stage is Exeter's independent theatre arts school, and the Mayor was there to present certificates and special prizes to its students.

The gala, which is an annual event, this year also celebrated the 20th anniversary of Stage by Stage and featured musical and dance numbers drawn from the last two decades of shows which have been performed by the school in the city and around the UK....

From early morning crowds started pouring into the Devon County Showground at Westpoint near Exeter for the second day of the Devon County Show. Great films and great debates are the basis of ‘Screen Talks’, linking University of Exeter academics and the public through a programme of talks and film screenings at Exeter Picturehouse.

The young and young at heart are in for a memorable night at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) and the Cavern Club on Friday 15th February when the nine-piece band Smerin’s Anti-Social Club will be performing.

The Valentines’ ball will feature ElectroSwing music and have a 1920s theme. The 6.30-10pm session at RAMM is suitable for all ages but only over 18s can go on to the Cavern Club from 10pm to 2am. Novice dancers are welcome as there’ll be swing dancing lessons in RAMM’s central courtyard.
