Rob Baxter is challenging his Exeter Chiefs side to "want more" as they gear up for the club's first-ever appearance in the Aviva Premiership play-offs. The Chiefs will wrap up the final round of the scheduled domestic season at Harlequins tomorrow (3:30pm) knowing a victory in the capital will guarantee them home advantage in a fortnight's time in the last four. Last weekend's impressive 24-3 victory over Wasps saw them leapfrog the Midlanders back into second spot, effectively putting them back in control of their own destiny at such a crucial stage of the campaign. Buoyed by that...
Nationwide fuel supplier Watson Fuels last week gave Cullompton Rugby Club U16s the opportunity to train with Exeter Chiefs’ stars Don Armand and Kai Horstmann. The training session took place on Tuesday 26th April, under the floodlit astro-turf next to the Chiefs’ Sandy Park stadium. The evening formed part of Watson Fuels sponsorship of the AVIVA Premiership club. The session followed Cullompton U16s usual practice, with Armand and Horstmann interjecting throughout to offer the youngsters tips and advice on how to improve their personal and collective game. Armand and Horstmann were also...
Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has confirmed that both Byron McGuigan and Chrysander Botha are to leave the Aviva Premiership club at the end of the season.
Baxter confirmed the Namibian duo would be on their way soon, but said he did not know where they would be playing their rugby next season.
“They are not going to be at Exeter next year,” Baxter said. “At this stage I don’t know where they are going to be going next. I can’t really make any further comment at the moment other than that.”
Following the success of the first-ever European Cycle Challenge back in January, a new cycling club has been formed to carry on the fundraising efforts for years to come.
Exeter Chiefs Cycling has been formed to build on the success of this year’s challenge, which saw 23 riders and four support crew make the 485-mile route from Sandy Park to the Stade Chaban Delmas in Bordeaux, raising over £22,000 for the club’s official charity, Exeter Foundation.
The aim of the new club, details of which are to be announced shortly, is to build on the success of the Bordeaux trip and...
The drums in Devon are beating a little louder as Exeter Chiefs moved back into second spot in the Aviva Premiership with an impressive victory over play-off rivals Wasps at Sandy Park.
Unlike some other venues where they feel the need to crank up the atmosphere somewhat artificially, Sandy Park brought it’s own unique crescendo of noise on a decisive day in English rugby’s top flight.
Virtually from start to finish, Rob Baxter’s side dominated proceedings – avenging last month’s European exit at the hands of Wasps – with a powerful and workmanlike display.
A first-ever play-off place assured in the Aviva Premiership, Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter is now setting new targets for his side as a gripping top flight season heads into the final straight.
Alongside Saracens and Sunday’s visitors to Sandy Park, Wasps, the Chiefs are one of three confirmed play-off contenders with two rounds of the scheduled domestic campaign remaining.
Defending champions Saracens look likely to claim pole position following 22 rounds of action, but the battle for home advantage between the Chiefs and Wasps could well go to the wire if the Devon...
ENGLAND and Exeter Chiefs rugby star Jack Nowell has discovered that a family member was among the soldiers who fell on the first day of the battle of the Somme and who will be commemorated in an astonishing centenary project this summer. The 19240 Shrouds of the Somme project aims to remember all 19,240 allied soldiers who died on 1st July 1916. Artist Rob Heard has created hand-stitched, shrouded figurines to represent every one of them and the installation will be unveiled on July 1st. Cornishman Jack discovered that his great, great Uncle Frank was among them at a charity dinner at the...
Exeter Chiefs officials can this morning confirm that Sunday’s Aviva Premiership encounter with Wasps at Sandy Park (1pm) is now officially sold out.
The ticket office were hopeful that there may have been a number of tickets returned by Wasps for the much-anticipated clash, but this has not been the case and there will be no sales from this point onwards.
Sunday’s fixture will be the fifth time this season that the Chiefs have sold out a top flight game.
Those who have been unable to obtain tickets for the game should note that the game is to be screened live on BT...
Exeter Chiefs and Samurai Sportswear are predicting a bright future ahead after today agreeing a new long-term contract.
The five-year deal will see the Norfolk-based sportswear manufacturer continue to supply the Aviva Premiership club with its innovative range of playing kit and off-field leisurewear, as well as providing an extensive range of kit and clothing for the club’s support base.
The partnership, which was first signed in 2010 before the Chiefs were promoted into English rugby’s top flight, is the joint longest of its type in the Premiership, with both parties...
Scotsman Moray Low says it was an 'easy decision' for him to agree terms on a new deal with Aviva Premiership side Exeter Chiefs.
With his initial two-year stay set to expire this summer, the former Glasgow Warriors prop has put pen to paper on a similar deal, tying him to Sandy Park until 2018 at least.
Low’s decision to remain in Devon is yet another timely boost for Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter, who has wasted little time in tying down new contracts for a number of his current squad, as well as adding a fresh sprinkling of new faces for next season.
