There is still time to vote for Exeter Chiefs supporters to register their support for Jack Nowell to win this season’s LV= Breakthrough Player Award.

The talented Cornishman is one of 10 players who are currently battling it out to win the accolade following some notable displays in this season’s competition.

Equally at home at full-back or on the wing, 19-year-old Nowell has constantly been a blight on opposition defences this season and was regarded as the top player in round four as his side saw off a strong Northampton Saints.

Exeter Chiefs and Exeter College students get baking for Red Nose Day

Three members of the Exeter Chiefs took on the challenge to bake and decorate 1,000 cup cakes to show their support for Red Nose Day 2013, and inspire everyone to get out the cake mix to raise money.

Today (Thursday Feb 28) prop Carl Rimmer and hookers Jack Yeandle and Chris Whitehead rose to the occasion and made more than a half-baked attempt at cooking Red Nose Day inspired cupcakes to encourage the people of Exeter to raise funds with their own baking skills on Friday 15 March.

Award-winning landlord saves village pub from closure

Residents from the Mid-Devon village of Clyst Hydon near Cullompton, are celebrating the news that their cherished local pub, the Five Bells Inn , has been saved from closure following a month of strong campaigning.

Paul Parnell, owner and landlord of the hugely successful Jack in the Green pub and restaurant at Rockbeare has acquired the lease to run the Five Bells Inn through an arrangement with Exeter-based property consultants Grenadier Estates . It will reopen in the summer following an extensive refurbishment.
