This Sunday morning walk from the Castle with David Allen, of the Botany Section of the Devonshire Association, will look at plants of heathland and bog in this precious lowland heath habitat. Expert botanist David Allen of the Botany Section of the Devonshire Association will guide us through identifying some of the plants of heath and bog in the rare and precious lowland heath habitat of Woodbury Common. Please wear sturdy shoes, bring some drinking water, and dress appropriately for the weather. Entry by donation. Limited numbers, so please reserve a place

Although modern technology brings some incredible things to the world, it has had some unfortunate consequences for younger generations. According to statistics :-

  • Children consume at least 3 hours of media a day
  • 65% of children under the age of 8 watch TV lately
  • Every day, children under 8 spend around 25 minutes playing video games
  • Children begin watching TV at around 9 months of age

Devon business transformed into riot of colour!

A SPECTACULAR riot of colour will transform Devon’s The Bear Trail when it holds a fantastic family fundraising event later this month to celebrate its second birthday.

The muddy obstacle course, which is based between Exeter and Cullompton, is holding ‘The Colour Bomb’ event on Sunday, July 22 - and it promises to be a party atmosphere. The Bear Trail will transform into the ultimate colour explosion where participants will find 27 obstacles to climb, slip, slide, run, skip, zip, tumble and swing in, under, over or through. Not forgetting the (optional) mud to wallow in!

Race lanes drawn for City of Exeter Rowing Regatta

Entries have now been submitted and race lanes drawn for this years City of Exeter Regatta at Exeter Quay on Saturday 11 July.

Once again this will be a full day of racing with over 100 sprint races on the day from 10.30am to 6pm. Racing takes place over a 400 metre course on the River Exe.

This provides close, exciting racing all day with eights, coxed fours, pairs, singles and double sculls.

Coffee morning

Back by popular demand is another of Exeter Axhayes cats protection adoption centres coffee mornings. Held at Axhayes adoption centre, just past the Cat and Fiddle Inn, Clyst St Mary, it starts at 11am.

Pop along, bring the family and friends, meet the cats and kittens and have a cuppa and some homemade cake.

All funds goes direct to helping local cats and kittens.
