Wet weather helps Exeter attraction pull in huge numbers

Unseasonably wet weather has helped one of the South West’s attractions pull in its highest number of visitors since the covid pandemic.

More than 2,100 people visited Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) last Wednesday (2 August).

It wasn’t the first rainy day of the school holidays but the dry conditions and warm welcome from staff at RAMM, certainly proved a hit. The museum and its permanent collections is free for all visitors to explore, although there is a charge for some exhibitions throughout the year.

Bloor Homes’ Exeter region has a new-look home thanks to the completion of a £2.7 million extension to its Horizon House offices, complete with extended meeting and training and conferencing facilities.

Dementia research charity awards Exeter scientists £370k to accelerate progress for a cure

Alzheimer’s Research UK, the UK’s leading dementia research charity, has funded three researchers from the University of Exeter to carry out projects aimed at finding new treatments, boosting early diagnosis, and understanding the disease’s causes.

The £370k grants are part of a wider a £3 million funding announcement that will help to accelerate effective treatments for dementia.

Over the last two decades, Alzheimer’s Research UK has provided funding worth over £3.1m to research at the University of Exeter, which is a major national hub for dementia science.

Darts Farm celebrated the first anniversary of its new restaurant, The Farm Table, in July by welcoming two iconic chefs to take over the kitchen for the evening.

A formidable group of friends has raised more than £60,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support by bringing the Clyst St Mary community together in memory of a beloved friend.

Al’s Pals Open Garden party has been running for the past few years thanks to a dedicated team hoping to honour the memory of their dear friend Alison Robinson , who died from cancer in 2019.

This year’s event raised £4,567.29, bringing the total collected by these fantastic fundraisers to £60,000 to enable Macmillan Cancer Support to fund services for people living with cancer.
