Chance for art groups to exhibit at RAMM

Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) is calling for entries for the 2014 Local Art Show competition.

Run jointly by RAMM and the Express and Echo, all art groups and societies from Exeter and the surrounding area can compete for the chance to exhibit the work of their members in the museum from 7 to 21 August. #

All groups wishing to enter must download entry forms from the museum website: www.exeter.gov.uk/RAMM and submit them before Tuesday 10 June.

A new exhibition will be on display from Thursday 8 to Wednesday 21 May featuring the work of a well-known local Exmouth artist at A la Ronde, the National Trust property near Exmouth.

‘Times and Seasons’ by John Onley is a series of paintings based on landscape and townscape studies at home and abroad worked in pastel, acrylics and mixed medias. He tries to simplify natural forms, sometimes to the point of abstraction, to emphasise the patterns and shapes of the landscape, and to achieve vibrant colour combinations. Painted landscapes at A la Ronde

Local artist Heatherbell Barlow will be holding an exhibition of her work at A la Ronde this month.

Heatherbell is co-founder of the Exe Valley Artists and a member of Devon Artist Network and has a passion for colour. This is reflected in her landscape paintings of special places in the West Country. Her Sketchbook Project on Scilly recently toured America and Canada.

The exhibition can be seen, free of charge, in the stable and award winning tearooms at A la Ronde near Exmouth from 24 April to 7 May, 10.30am - 5.00pm.

Visual artist and musician Mathew Sawyer will be performing and showcasing his work as part of 'White Male, 36 Years Old, Average Height, No Pets, Out of Shape and Anxious’ at the Spacex Gallery.

His work will be available to view from Saturday 17 May up until Saturday 12 July.

Devon student to showcase work at London exhibition

A Devon student is one of 40 students showcasing their work at a prestigious exhibition to be held at the Bargehouse, OXO Tower in London.

Karen Sanders, who splits her time between Devon and Bristol, is one of several students who will be showcasing their photographs in the exhibition entitled ‘ FLUXURE’.

The exhibition, which offers a private view on June 19th with the exhibition opening to the public for free from the 20th to the 23rd, is being held to mark the end of the students three year degree course in Photography.

Overbeck to host exhibition in memory of its WW1 role

Overbeck's near Salcombe will be holding an exhibition from 1 June to 2 November to mark the role it played in World War One.

The National Trust attraction, which is home to inventor and scientist Otto Overbeck, offers amaing views of Salcombe.

Malcolm, a volunteer guide at Overbeck’s, said: "We are proud to commemorate the brave servicemen who fought in the war and are delighted with the increased popularity of our museum tours since the BBC started a new series The Crimson Field about the role played by Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) nurses."
