Crew volunteers from Exmouth RNLI were called to the aid of a yacht, two speed boats and a missing kite surfer on Sunday 28 July. Relief Coxswain Matt Simpson from Ilfracombe RNLI led the yacht rescue in Lyme Bay.

At 2.05pm, Brixham coastguard initially tasked the inshore lifeboat to the aid of Misty, a yacht in difficulty one and a half miles off Maer Rocks. The all-weather lifeboat, Margaret Jean stood by in heavy rain and force five/six wind conditions whilst the inshore lifeboat, George Bearman attempted to reach the casualty.

Exmouth RNLI called to the aid of a kitesurfer and a trimaran

Crew volunteers rescued a novice kitesurfer from Exmouth’s ‘duckpond’ in the rising tide on 25 July. Later that afternoon, the inshore lifeboat was tasked to rescue two people in the water after their trimaran capsized near the marina.

Brixham coastguard tasked the inshore lifeboat George Bearman at 9.34am, responding to an emergency call to a kitesurfer in difficulties in the Exe estuary. Crew volunteers Scott Ranft, Roy Stott and Guy Munnings located the casualty, a man from Exeter, within five minutes of launching.

Crew volunteers from Exmouth RNLI were called out three times within four hours on the afternoon of 24 July. A pregnant lady, a sinking speed boat and a missing boat adrift in the river Exe all encountered the rapidly rising flood tide.

Brixham coastguard tasked the inshore lifeboat George Bearman at 3.48pm to rescue two people stranded by Langstone Rock at Dawlish. Sunny weekend keeps Exmouth RNLI busy

Volunteers from Exmouth RNLI were kept busy during the first weekend of July with three incidents around Exmouth beach.

On Saturday 6 July at 5.42pm, the inshore lifeboat George Bearman was tasked to rescue a couple who had found themselves cut off by the tide by Rodney Point. Responding to a 999 call from the beach, crew volunteers collected the casualties and brought them safely to shore. The man and woman were given a tide table and advice.

The great Exmouth RNLI lifeboat ‘cake bake’

Volunteers from the Exmouth Lifeboat Fundraising Team will be holding a cake bake sale on 26 May at the boathouse on Queen's Drive. The event will raise money towards the cost of the launch and recovery vehicle for the Shannon-class lifeboat due in 2014.

The charity’s team are inviting members of the public to join them putting the ‘fun’ into fundraising for this this exciting event, held during the bank holiday weekend.

Casino Royale party supports Exmouth RNLI appeal

Exmouth resident, Michael Griffin held a James Bond-style party at the Exmouth Pavilion on Saturday 20 April. Both volunteer Deputy Coxswains from Exmouth RNLI were invited to help raise money towards their latest appeal.

When Michael started planning his 60th birthday party, fundraising for the charity that saves lives at sea played a key part. As a keen sailor and member of the Exe Sailing Club, Michael asked guests to donate money to the Institution, in lieu of presents. University students set to raise funds for Exmouth RNLI

Students from the University of Exeter have plans to set up a fundraising branch on campus for their local lifeboat station. In addition, two other groups from the University already have events planned at the end of March specifically to support the launch and recovery vehicle appeal at Exmouth RNLI.

It is hoped that, with enough support, a branch can be established that will both raise the profile of the RNLI among the University population, as well as raising funds. Community Fundraising Manager for the South West, Frances Warren comments:

Exmouth RNLI on Hairy Bikers Everyday Gourmet

Exmouth RNLI members are due to make an appearance on the Hairy Bikers Everyday Gourmet programme tonight at 8pm on BBC Two.

Following a rescue of four young men on October 23 2011, volunteer crew members Mark Champion and Andy Williams both received an inscription of thanks from the Institution on Vellum for their roles. In-shore lifeboat helmsman, Roger Jackson who was awarded a bronze medal for gallantry for the same rescue, cooked a meal for 12 RNLI volunteers to thank them. Exmouth RNLI locate casualty after five-hour search

RNLI lifeboat crews from Torbay, Exmouth and Teignmouth launched in gale force winds and rain on Monday evening (28th January) to assist in a major search for a lone fisherman who was overdue returning to Brixham harbour.

The alarm was raised at around 7pm when the 19ft fishing vessel JCK with one person aboard hadn’t returned to port as planned. It was last seen travelling past Thatcher Rock near Torquay at 6.25pm.
