Solana are an instrumental gypsy-folk band. Hailing from all corners of Europe, their style reflects the diversity of their backgrounds and interests: their sound encompasses folk, swing, klezmer, flamenco, latin, reggae and trip-hop. Their live shows combine intricate arrangements with energetic performances and healthy doses of improvisation, and have been getting crowds dancing across the UK, France and Spain since their formation in late 2012.

PAUL METSERS is a top rated New Zealand singer/songwriter who moved to the UK in the 1980s and toured extensively.

He quickly became a firm favourite at Folk Clubs and Festivals, helped by his song "Farewell to the Gold" being taken up by Nic Jones, who recorded it on his CD "Penguin's Eggs". Paul stopped touring, apart from the occassional concert, in the 1990s. He is accompanied at this concert by Joe While on Piano. We welcome him to our concert for what should be a memorable evening.

Music, song and dance at Dartmoor Folk Festival

TOP local and national artists will headline at the 39th Dartmoor Folk Festival, which will be held at South Zeal, near Okehampton, on August 5, 6 and 7.

They include Blazin' Fiddles, Miranda Sykes and Rex Preston, Bob Fox, Mawkin, Talisk, Pete Coe, Alice Jones and Tickled Pink with Fee Lock.

Other artists attending are The Dartmoor Pixie Band (Friday and Sunday night), Ramsley Minors, Entertainingly Different, Dave Wills, Bill Murray, Tich Scott and various morris and dance teams.

A unique event for folk music lover and songwriters alike is taking place in Exeter.

A folk star and famous songwriter is taking a night off from the busy touring schedule to drop in on a favourite local venue, unpack the songwriting process a little and share thoughts with an intimate audience.

Steve Knightley, one of the Westcountry’s leading songwriters, will give an illustrated talk about his approach to songwriting using songs reflecting a sense of place in Devon at the Cygnet Theatre, Exeter on Monday 9th May.
