Aldi is supporting local charities, foodbanks, and community groups in Devon through its Emergency Winter Foodbank Fund this Christmas.

The supermarket’s Emergency Winter Foodbank Fund will see it donate £250,000 to help organisations as they prepare to face heightened demand on their services.

The fund builds on Aldi’s successful partnership with community engagement platform Neighbourly which enables all of Aldi’s 980 UK stores to donate surplus food seven days a week, all year round.

As food banks and frontline charities face up to their hardest Christmas ever, people in Devon can give the gift of their time by taking part in the UK’s biggest food donation drive.

More than 65,000 people will be able to put food on the table this Christmas, thanks to grants to 135 foodbanks across England and Wales from the Freemasons. The grants totalling £343,000 are an important boost to foodbanks, which are expecting a surge in demand, following the upheavals of the pandemic, continuing supply chain problems and rising fuel bills. Exeter children urged to write poems to tackle food bank stigma

CHILDREN in Exeter are being called to pen a short poem about hunger and what it means to them, as part of a national competition run by anti-poverty charity the Trussell Trust, which supports a network of food banks across the UK.

The charity is calling on youngsters, aged nine and under, to create and draw a hungry character and tell its story in the form of a short poem – as part of its Bye Bye Hunger competition.

Investec extends food bank support to Exeter

Investec has announced that it is extending its partnership with food banks across the UK and supplying food banks in 15 UK cities with essential supplies.

Aiming to feed around 3,800 people every week across the country, Investec will be supplying around 20,000 food items on a weekly basis to each of the 15 food banks, which will help support the wider 20 food banks and 63 distribution centres in those networks. Exeter businesses donate hundreds of items to support city's foodbank at Christmas

Over 500 items of food have been donated by Exeter businesses to support local families this Christmas. The generous companies made the donations in aid of the Exeter Foodbank at an event staged by NatWest at the city’s Cookery School recently. Last year more than 5,500 people, including 1,610 children, needed to use the foodbank, which was launched in 2008 to help people affected by financial crisis.
