Photography winner Paul donates tree to popular park

The winner of a photography competition has donated his prize of a tree to a popular city park.

Generous Paul Osborne didn’t have room in his own garden so instead allowed the tree to be planted in Heavitree Pleasure Ground.

The park is one of Paul’s favourite haunts and the location for his winning photograph – a stunning image of a blue sky above a group of oak trees.

Paul’s image caught the eyes of judges in the City Council’s tree photography competition.

Council plants over 10,000 trees in Exeter

More than 10,000 trees have been planted in Exeter since the year 2000, the City Council has revealed.

Many of the trees were planted across the city as part of the Council’s Urban Woodland project but others have been introduced into parks and open spaces over the years.

The City Council places a high value on trees across the city. Damaged trees are replaced with new ones and the Council works hard to ensure the city stays green, benefiting the lives of residents, visitors and the environment itself.

Organisers said: "It is with great regret that we're having to postpone the Heavitree Fun Day. The decision has not been taken lightly but the forecast means we have no choice. Details of a new date for the coming weeks will be set ASAP."
