A Devon-wide organisation is presenting its third event this Winter, to usher in the coming of spring. Anyone with a love of jazz will find a rich tapestry of music, woven by a master of the genre.
The Piano and Me will feature Mike Westbrook and is being produced by the Devonshire Association’s Music and Folklore Section (DAMFS) which is a new organisation amalgamating two established groups. Exeter University Footlights presents Bandstand! Performing at the Exeter Northcott Theatre from 25th-28th January
Bandstand sees a group of WW2 veterans returning home and struggling to fit into their old lives whilst dealing with the lingering effects of the war. Forming a bond over their shared love of music, they form a swing band to compete in a national radio contest in New York City.
Footlights is Exeter's largest student musical theatre company who put on large-scale professional productions.
The Concert 'Swing into Christmas' brings the curtain down on the Crediton Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival, which runs from Wed 4th Dec to Sun 8th Dec. This September sees 40 years of the West Exe, formerly St Thomas, Jazz Band. During that time we have given well over 400 performances in many venues. To celebrate we are presenting a concert in which the current band and many performers from the total of over 500 members will be taking part.
