If you don't already know it, it is an awed and heartbroken classic; a frank dissection of its author's troubled life and loves as well as a proud declaration of his homosexuality: sad, touching, funny and nostalgic, it is one of the finest records of recent years: a bold lyrical honesty couched in honeyed melodies.

John Grant (born 1968) is an American singer-songwriter. Formerly associated with the Denver-based alternative rock band The Czars in the 1990s and early 2000s, he launched a career as a solo artist in 2010.

It’s been an extraordinary journey for John Grant, from a point where he thought he would never make music again or escape a life of substance abuse to winning awards and accolades, collaborating with Sinead O’Connor, Rumer and Hercules and Love Affair and having his music featured in the award-winning film Weekend.
