The legendary Boomtown Rats will be playing at Exeters Lemon Grove (Previously meant to be The Great Hall, tickets remain valid) this November 9th.

Founded in 1975 in Dublin, The Boomtown Rats played with the Ramones, the Clash and many other greats in their early years. They put their stamp on the late 70's and early 80's new wave music scene.

They have gained Brit Awards, Grammy's, and Ivor Norvello's over the years and made history by being the first Irish band to get a number 1 in the UK with Rat Trap.

New Exeter comedy club opens this month

New comedy club to open in Exeter

A brand new comedy club is opening in Exeter 's Lemon Grove on Friday 17 October.

Five top comedians from the national stand-up circuit will be on stage at Exeter's Comedy Grove, the newest comedy club to the city, bringing down the best acts on the national stand-up circuit, with many who have appeared on shows such as Live at the Apollo and Russel Howard's Good News.

John Grant (born 1968) is an American singer-songwriter. Formerly associated with the Denver-based alternative rock band The Czars in the 1990s and early 2000s, he launched a career as a solo artist in 2010.

It’s been an extraordinary journey for John Grant, from a point where he thought he would never make music again or escape a life of substance abuse to winning awards and accolades, collaborating with Sinead O’Connor, Rumer and Hercules and Love Affair and having his music featured in the award-winning film Weekend.

For a long time if you wanted to hear the most exciting new band in Britain, you knocked on a tall black door off the Lambeth Road. An aging British Rail building - part art studio happening, part squat – Studio 180 was where south London’s Palma Violets were gestating, away from sunlight and the world at large. A thrilling rock'n'roll four piece channelling The Clash, the Mysterians, and the Bad Seeds, from September 2011 they were holed-up here writing songs "their friends could dance to" and occasionally putting on celebratory, ecstatic parties about which word quickly spread.

Modestep were born online in 2008, when brothers Josh and Tony Friend started Modestep Radio to showcase their productions and dubstep tracks they loved.

By late 2010 they were writing their own songs, one of which was ‘Feel Good,’ for which they made a cheap video.

They gave the exclusive to dubstep Youtube channel UKF and within weeks it had 4 million hits. By Jan 2011 Modestep found themselves on the Radio 1 A-List and the hottest unsigned property in UK music. AandM won the race to their signatures, with the band creating their own imprint Max Records.

Cider loving band The Wurzels come to Exeter University

Tommy Banner, Pete Budd, John Morgan and Sedge Moore make up the Wurzels. Hailing from Somerset this "Scrumpy and Western" band have been going since 1966 and show no signs of easing up.
