Officers investigating an unprovoked attack on a teenager in Exeter have released images of a young man they would like to speak to in connection with the assault.

The 18-year-old victim, from Cullompton, was punched in the face by an unknown man, believed to be a teenager, outside the Holland and Barrett store on the High Street.

He suffered serious facial injuries as a result of the assault that happened at around 5pm on Thursday 24 March.

Male bluebirds persist and shout

Birds ‘shout’ to be heard over the noise produced by man-made activity, new research has shown.

The innovative study, led by an expert from the University of Exeter, looked at how bluebirds altered their songs in response to increases in nearby background noise caused, in many cases, by human activities such as traffic.

It found that the birds altered their songs immediately after noise levels intensified, making ‘real-time’ adjustments in order to produce songs that are both louder and lower-pitched. The results suggest that birds are able to perceive increases in noise...

Maldives: Male tense as protest follows arrest of former President

Hundreds of protesters have gathered in Male, the capital of the Maldives, following the arrest on Tuesday morning of former President and leader of the Maldives Democratic Party, Mohamed Nasheed.

Photographs shared by sources in Male show demonstrators being arrested and put in police vans. A heavy police presence, with officers in riot gear has been reported.

Protesters have reportedly tipped a government vehicle over, as clashes intensify.
