Flybe today announced that Paul Simmons, Chief Commercial Officer, is to leave the company in mid-January 2016 to take up a role with Malaysian Airlines based in Kuala Lumpur. Following Paul's departure, Flybe will move to a new commercial organisational structure. The Chief Commercial Officer role will be split into two, with both new roles sitting on the Operating Board and reporting to CEO, Saad Hammad. Devon County Council has submitted a £44 million bid to the Government for additional funding for major resurfacing, drainage and streetlight improvements on some of Devon’s most critical road infrastructure.
Devon is attempting to secure a share of the £575 million Local Highways Maintenance Challenge Fund. In a joint collaboration with Torbay Council, it’s looking to secure £34.29 million to fund improvements to the A39 and A361 North Devon Link Road and the A380, all of which serve future growth developments which are currently in the pipeline.

Plans have been announced to dissolve Exeter's City Centre Management Partnership and instead concentrate all efforts on creating a Business Improvement District.
Letters have been sent to all members of the Partnership proposing that it be dissolved on 28 November. Devon County Council has welcomed the Inspector’s report on the Devon Waste Plan.
Following the examination hearings into the Devon Waste Plan that were held this summer, the report concludes that, with the modifications recommended by the Inspector, the Plan is sound and provides an appropriate basis for waste planning in Devon over the period to 2031.
It is now the responsibility of the County Council to consider the adoption of the Plan, which is anticipated by December 2014.

East Devon District Council has announced the start of a 12 month project to create a new Beach Management Plan for Sidmouth – designed to maintain and improve the town’s coastal defences whilst enhancing the area as an attraction for beach-users.
The Council is to spend an estimated £75,000 on a data-collection and options appraisal aimed at producing maintenance and capital options that could attract funding from a number of sources, including the Government. The project is split into 5 stages: information gathering, baseline studies, issues, options and plan production.

Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell, who has been charged with child sex offences, will not be appearing in any further episodes pending the outcome of legal proceedings, a spokesperson for ITV has said.
Le Vell who plays garage owner Kevin Webster in the ITV soap is accused of 19 child sex offences, including child rape, and sexual activity with a child between 2001 and 2010, Greater Manchester Police said.
The 48-year-old father of two will appear in court charged with the offences on 27 February.
