Sophia takes centre stage in hit musical

A student from the Stagecoach theatre school in Exeter has taken centre stage in the hit West End and Broadway production of Shrek The Musical® at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth this month.

Nine-year-old Sophia Rochfort sailed through her auditions organised by the Stagecoach Agency, to secure the part of the one of the lead characters, the Young Shrek and Grumpy the Dwarf.

The Carpenters Story comes to Exeter

The show that is widely regarded as the first ever tribute show when it opened in 1989, selling out venues such as the London Palladium, is visiting Exeter Corn Exchange on Wednesday 2 September.

The Carpenters Story brings the show up-to-date with lavish arrangements, stunning vocal harmonies and Claire Furley’s uncanny representation of Karen Carpenter bringing back memories of pop’s most melodic duo.

Oh those Summer Nights!

Standing ovations have greeted every packed performance of Grease, presented by Stage by Stage at the Northcott Theatre this week.

Over 2,000 people have seen the classic show, presented by Exeter's own theatre arts school with a cast of 70 aged from 11 to 19.

Following last year's performances of Les Miserables the students changed gear to present the high energy 1950s musical. There are just 3 performances left so don't delay- move like greased lightning to get a ticket!

Following on from its 110th anniversary celebrations, this Easter Exeter Musical Society begins a new era with the ‘divine musical comedy’ Sister Act.

Based on its namesake 1992 movie, Sister Act tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, an aspiring disco diva trying to make her way to the top in 1970’s Philadelphia.

Deloris falls in love with Curtis Shank, a gangster. However, when she sees him commit a murder, the police put her in a witness protection scheme and send her to a convent.

Choral Music Old and New

EXODUS is one of Exeter’s newest and most vibrant choirs. Set up in the autumn of 2012 by Michael Graham, the choir offers dynamic concert programmes performed by the finest singers in the area.

The Artistic Director and Conductor, Michael Graham, is a Choral Scholar at Exeter Cathedral, Director of Chapel Music at the University of Exeter and conducts various local choirs. Matt Cann was Director of Antiphon and is a Lay Clerk at Exeter Cathedral. This year he will continue to sing bass with Exodus as well as sharing the role of Conductor.
