Sunflowers set to provide positivity for Poltimore House

Local historic homes supporting one another to preserve Devon’s countryside attractions.

Powderham Castle will be providing everything you need to plant a seed of positivity this spring, to support the resurrection of Poltimore House. Fittingly chosen, Sunflowers are a symbol of positivity, happiness and good fortune, standing tall in adversity.

Poltimore Music & Arts Festival to go ahead as planned

Poltimore Music & Arts Festival will go ahead as planned on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May, despite a major fire that started in the library and ripped through the whole building last week.

The festival was originally being brought back after a five-year break to help with fundraising for the next stage of renovations at Poltimore House, following 20 years of restoration work.

The Young Pretenders Theatre Company create a new dedicated youth arts festival at Poltimore House

Exeter’s up-and-coming youth theatre company The Young Pretenders (TYP) has created a brand new youth arts festival for young creatives from all across Devon.

This new event, TYPify, is the first of its kind. It involves over 100 young people working across all artistic disciplines, and is being held over three nights inside the historic walls of Poltimore House, from the 7th – 9th July.

Over St George’s Day weekend, hundreds of flower enthusiasts visited Poltimore House just outside Exeter for the first ever Poltimore Flower Festival.

Over 40 tutors and students from one of the UK’s leading flower schools, the Academy of Floral Art near Exeter, are joining forces to create a series of floral displays in the Grade II listed Poltimore House to mark St George’s Day weekend. Daily Life in Devon 1550-1650 with Dr Todd Gray MBE

A talk by local historian Todd Gray, looking at life in Devon and the context of Poltimore and Bampfylde House in Exeter.

Devon history has been enriched by Dr Gray who is unrivalled in his knowledge of the county, having published 45 books about Devon. In 2014 he was awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List for voluntary services to Devon heritage.
