When it comes to selling your home there are several things which drive the price; the number of bedrooms, land attached, local amenities and transport links to name a few. But these factors only give a price range and there is often scope for maximising the price of your home, or put more simply, adding value to your home. There are several ways this can be done.

A new study conducted by crafting company Stampin’ Up! UK reveals South West residents to be cost-conscious where wedding spending is concerned.
The survey asked respondents to state how much they thought reasonable to spend on a wedding – not including honeymoon.
Previous surveys conducted by a variety of businesses have suggested that a ‘typical’ wedding comes in at the £18-20,000 figure. Even popular BBC1 show ‘Don’t Tell the Bride’ gives husbands-to-be a budget of £14,000 to play with. But it would seem attitudes are changing. A fifth of respondents in the South West (...

Big six power company Npwower has come under criticism for misleading consumers with claims that rising energy bills are the fault of "old and draughty" houses. Npower Chief executive Paul Massara said the prices of gas and electricity in the UK are among the lowest in Europe and expensive bills are "because British houses waste so much energy". In the supplier's second "Energy Explained" report, Mr Massara said: "If we can increase the efficiency of the UK's old and draughty housing, we can ensure that annual energy bills are some of the lowest too." The claims have come under heavy...

The chairman of the NFU's dairy board has expressed disappointment following the latest round of milk price cuts.
Dairy Crest and First Milk have today announced further price drops from January 2015.
NFU dairy board chairman Rob Harrison said: “Although the fundamentals of the global supply and demand situation haven't changed this latest price slash is another kick in the teeth and comes at the expense of the average dairy farmer who is now making a significant loss for every litre of milk they produce. There are many farmers that have invested heavily over past years and...
How much is beauty worth? What will people pay for an air guitar on eBay? Can I have a glass of milk?
These urgent questions and others are answered in The Price of Everything, a performance lecture about value. Daniel Bye's whistlestop tour of bizarre facts and impassioned arguments is occasionally shambolic and often tendentious - but always a joy to watch.
Comic, provocative, and possibly a tiny bit sad, this show is a must if you've ever wondered about the difference between the price of an object and its value.
