East Devon District Council has a message for readers of local and national newspapers in the district.
The message is: If you put your old newspapers into the recycling bin, within seven days they may well be back on your doormat in the form of the latest edition. By recycling in this way, you reduce the number of trees felled for paper-making.
This great news is part of a campaign that EDDC is running this summer thanking residents for recycling, encouraging them to keep recycling and urging others to join in so we can pass the 50% recycling rate and head towards our...

Devon County Council remains one of the best performing authorities in the country for recycling, despite a slight fall in the recycling rate.
A report which will go before the Devon Authorities Waste Reduction and Recycling Committee later this week (19 June) shows that during 2012/13, Devon’s recycling centres continued to increase the amount of waste recycled, with a 2% rise helping them reach 80%. However, the county’s overall recycling rate decreased by 0.4% to 54.8%.
The reduction has been put down to the wet weather affecting garden waste quantities, which fell by 2...

The event is a popular, thought-provoking and free event which enables students to explore waste, recycling and related sustainability issues in the county.

Previously there have been: books, DVDs, children's clothes, crockery, jewellery, ornaments, home-baked biscuits and even jars of jam!
No one makes a profit from this activity and everything finds a new home - winners all round!
Why not come down, bring a bag of unwanted items and join...
School children from Pinhoe Primary School, Exeter, will be visiting their local recycling centre on Monday 11th February to find out what happens to our waste.

Recycling rates in Great Britain and France remain below most other European countries, despite growing awareness of environmental concerns among consumers.
Only approximately half of plastic bottles are collected for recycling in these countries; as a result, manufacturers face restrictions in the supply of locally available recycled PET.
While consumers express strong beliefs related to recycling, at-home recycling rates do not...
An event next week will address some of the issues when Exeter CVS, in partnership with the British Council, presents a showcase programme on Wednesday 23 January at Exeter’s Corn Exchange.

Local projects will be on hand to inspire you to make a difference that will help generations in the future.
There will also be national and local speakers from...
