What started as an idea in a folk club has become a national folk-rock institution.
Feast of Fiddles has been variously likened to a “group of geography teachers” or “Bellowhead with bus passes!” but doesn’t seem to be slowing down any. A band that puts on a show of huge dynamic range performed with passion, joy and a liberal dose of fun.
Typically, fiddlers Peter Knight (Gigspanner, Steeleye Span), Chris Leslie (Fairport Convention), Brian McNeill (Battlefield Band), Ian Cutler (Bully Wee), Tom Leary (Joe Brown Band) and Garry Blakeley (Band of Two) add the large range of...

Ferocious Dog have been described as England’s best folk-punk band, they tour relentlessly and most of their gigs are sold out. “The Celtic/folk punk act are full of energy. In true punk sensibility, it’s a set full of anger, rage, fury and takes aim at the ills of society. There’s acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and more all tied in with the more traditional punk elements. Thankfully, not all of this is at the same time and whilst there’s always six instruments being played at any one time, it never becomes overwhelming. Instead, it’s all blended together to ensure people are...
Train operating company Great Western Railway (GWR) has come to the rescue of Lapstock, the annual mid-Devon music festival by agreeing to stop trains at Lapford station for the duration of the highly popular event.
The agreement is a boost for festival organisers as access to Lapstock would have otherwise been restricted for those in the North of the county due to a prolonged closure of the A377 at Eggesford.
Festival Director, Steve Keable said: “Lapford station is on the beautiful Tarka Line from Barnstaple to Exeter and is only a couple of hundred yards from Lapford...
‘(Paul Tasker) is one of THE guitarists of his generation” – Maverick Magazine Joseph Parsons -“Collection of fragile soul-trips” – Rolling Stone The collaboration between Scottish duo Doghouse Roses and U.S. (Philadelphia) native Joseph Parsons began in the dark corner of a smoky bar in Berlin in 2015.
There is a shared spirit of eclecticism and bold creativity in the music of both bands at the core of their work; the roots tradition of storytelling is strikingly evident, skilfully drawing on contemporary elements of rock, blues, soul and country.
During 2017 the band played slots at some of the UK’s and European favourite festivals. Headlining a few of them along the way.
They were on fire, playing to some of the largest audiences of their career including the famous Colours of Ostrava festival in the Czech Republic.
They ended the year heading back to Europe to play in Spain, Belgium and Holland. “Live experiences don’t get much better and they have the songs to go with it. Louder Than War, Guy Smallman..
