Furzehill play area in Sidbury is to undergo a major £30,000 refurbishment by East Devon District Council and local primary school children and young people from the area have now had their say on what they would like to see there.
Nearly all the play equipment, which has been there for more than thirty years, will be removed when work begins next year. The swing frames are likely to stay and be restored. As a good zip wire can cost around £15,000 and a basket swing can be about £2,000, the council is going to also investigate if they can potentially source some funding from other...

Once purchased the Red Lion will be owned by Sidbury Community Enterprises...
Since May 2013 a campaign has been underway to retain the Red Lion pub in Sidbury, East Devon. The pub was put up for sale last April by its owner, Punch Taverns.
In September the Red Lion was listed as an Asset of Community Value by East Devon District Council and as a result a moratorium on the sale of the pub to anyone, other than the campaigners, was introduced for 6 months. If the Red Lion is retained it will be the first community owned pub in East Devon.
During the moratorium period Save The Red Lion Campaign established an Industrial Provident Society limited...
Only 24 hours after Save The Red Lion Campaign put its banner up in Sidbury village so that it was visible during the most important week in the village's calendar - Sidbury Fair Week - it has been stolen.
It's a shame that someone didn't want the Campaign's details to be publicly visible in the village. Luckily the campaign had two banners made and so this second one will be proudly visible in the village on 18 September on Sidbury Fair Day.
It is so disappointing that hard-earned Campaign Supporters' money has been wasted by such a childish act...
