Students have been celebrating the anniversary of the recognition of BSL as an official UK language with a week of activities. This included a visit to the local museum and motivating talks from four Deaf role models. Devon County Council’s Exeter Central Library is launching a regular BSL Club this month.
Taking place on the last Thursday of every month (starting 29 August), from 7-9pm, the free group will be an informal gathering and is open to deaf and hearing users of British Sign Language.
It’s a great opportunity to meet friends, share deaf news and views and get access to information available in the library.
There will also be tea, coffee and biscuits!
