Mid Devon man raises over £8,500 with 710-mile coast path walk

A Mid Devon man raised more than £8,500 for local cancer patients and their families by walking 710 miles along the entire South West Coast Path.

Jim Bray completed the 56-day, anti-clockwise trek from Minehead in Somerset to Poole Harbour in Dorset last year, with fundraising continuing into 2017.

The walk, entitled Jim’s Journey, raised £8,511.35, which was split 50-50 between Exeter-based FORCE and Over and Above, the charity of the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust.

A dog-loving nine-year-old has raised hundreds of pounds for homeless hounds after challenging herself to a 20-mile sponsored walk around the Devon countryside. Faith Boxer, from Honiton, walked 20 miles over several weeks after splitting the mileage into four, five-mile stints with the support of her Gran, who helped her organise the whole thing and plan her route. Our annual Exeter Walk is taking place again on Saturday 24 September 2016 during international Blood Cancer Awareness Month, where we raise awareness and understanding of blood cancer, the support that exists for patients, and the work that’s being done to beat blood cancer.

Sea wall sponsored walk a great success

The Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership organised a successful sponsored walk on Saturday 10th October to celebrate the reopening of the sea wall for walkers and raise around £1,000 for good causes in Teignmouth and Dawlish.

Teignmouth and Dawlish Ramblers led the 40 walkers who included local councillors, Dawlish and Teignmouth Walk this Way, the Friends of Dawlish and Teignmouth Stations, Dawlish Solidarity for Refugees and a representative of Network Rail’s ‘Orange Army’.

Exeter Round Table raises £250 for Hospiscare

Richard Kaye, Chairman of Exeter Round Table, recently met with Celia Wilkinson, Events Fundraiser of Hospiscare for the handover of a donation of £250 raised prior and following the Hospiscare charity walk on 16 March 2013.
