Come along to Amnesty International's second annual Clothes Swap in Exeter!

What:

The name clothes swap is pretty self-explanatory: donate clothes and you can take any items you fancy in return! Donating in advance means that you are able to get a reduced entry ticket on the day, or if you're unable to donate, turn up anyway and pay £4 entry to take part in the clothes swap. There will be coffee, cakes, and a live DJ, so even if you're not into clothes, there's still something for you!

Water refill station will save 10,000 plastic bottles a year

A new water refill station will save 10,000 plastic bottles a year from being used as well as reducing litter and helping to keep walkers and cyclists hydrated.

Water retailer Source for Business, part of the Exeter-based Pennon Group, has sponsored the refill station at Okehampton YHA to help combat plastic waste. The refill station was opened by Fran Rickwood, Eco-School Co-ordinator at Okehampton Primary School who has driven a number of sustainability initiatives in the town.

Devon Contract Waste rises from the ashes as work begins on new sustainable Marsh Barton headquarters

Following the fire that devastated Devon Contract Waste ’s HQ in March 2017, the company is gearing up for the next phase of its growth with the development of a new HQ. This month, work begins on the company’s new 1,300m2 headquarters on Marsh Barton Industrial Estate in Exeter. Approved by Devon County Council officers in September, the new premises will be built to an improved, sustainable design to house new facilities and achieve an internationally-recognised BREEAM sustainability rating of Excellent.

Money on offer to boost sustainability

Once again, the Devon County Agricultural Association (DCAA) is calling for community projects across Devon to enter the Prince of Wales Award which comes with a £1,000 first prize.

Met Office scoops top awards for sustainability

The Met Office has been named one of the most sustainable public sector organisations in the UK.

The Exeter-based agency has won a platinum award for sustainability at the Public Sector Estate Management awards ceremony.

Met Office facilities manager, Chris Richards, also scooped the title Sustainability Manager of the Year.
