Devon Schools take part in The Big Crib Project

Pupils from three church Primary Schools in Devon have been busy this christmas due to taking part in The Big Crib Project.

The Big Crib Project, organised by the education department of the Exeter Diocese, aims to strengthen links between church primary schools and parish churches.

To strengthen this link schools Lady Seaward's C of E Primary School, Offwell C of E Primary School and Brixton St Mary's C of E Primary School are enlivening their parish churches by creating life size models of the nativity scene.

Police seek Christmas fair vandals

Police in Torquay have released CCTV stills of a group of men they would like to speak to in connection with the vandalism of a Christmas fair in the town.

Christmas lights, attached to nine market huts outside the Town Hall, are seen on CCTV being attacked by the four men in the early hours of Sunday 8 December.

The men are also seen ripping the paper off one of the huts which had been made up to look like a giant Christmas present.

Police are now trying to identify four men who left the harbourside area around 3.50am on 8 December and walked up through the town...

Police found smoke bombs and vehicles suspected to be stolen in Paignton yesterday.

The property in Broadsands Court was searched yesterday when a man and a woman failed to stop for police when driving through Torquay yesterday morning.

Police followed the car and arrested a 21-year old man from Wales and a 17-year old woman from Brixham.

They were taken into custody in Torquay police station and are still being held there until they can be interviewed.

The Explosives Ordnance Disposal unit were called in to assist with the safe removal of the smoke bombs...

Torquay Pavillons could be moved onto an island in £40m development

A £40 million plan to move Torquay pavilions onto an Island in the middle of the town inner harbour has received some criticism from locals.

The ambitious plan has been floated as an alternative to a luxury hotel development expected to submit for planning permission shortly before Christmas.

The plans have been drawn up by residents supported by Mark Hoyle, Brian Lewis and Julie Brandon from Torquay Town Centre Community Partnership.

The residents suggest constructing an island and then using a crane to move the pavilion onto it.

Poirot’s Great Gorilla mystery hots up

There’s increasing interest in the fate of a life-sized gorilla painted to look like Agatha Christie's famous detective, Hercule Poirot.

He is one of the star lots in a grand charity auction that takes place on Wednesday 6 November.

Poirot was created as part of The Great Gorillas Project, marking Paignton Zoo’s 90th birthday. Paignton Zoo spokesperson Phil Knowling said: “The question now is not so much “Whodunnit?” as “Whowillbuyit?”
