Local radio and TV personality Judi Spiers has set off with her long term pal, Gus Honeybun to visit as many coffee mornings as they can in September.

Supported by Mercedes Benz of Exeter, who are sponsoring the campaign and who have kindly lent Judi a Cabriolet in which she can zip about the lanes of Devon, the pair will be visiting workplaces, homes and village halls to enjoy some home baking, strong coffee and to give thanks to the lovely people in our community who are raising money for local hospice charity, Hospiscare .

Film crews provide big boost to Exeter's economy

Filming in Exeter has brought in an estimated £140,000 worth of benefits to the city over the last year, new figures have revealed. TV documentaries, dramas, promotional films and adverts have all been shot in Exeter over the last 12 months. The City Council liaise directly with production companies wishing to film in Exeter, advising on the suitability of locations, how to gain access and places to stay and eat out at. Among those filming in Exeter during 2016/17:

Yachtsman to speak about ‘Mutiny’ adventure

A yachtsman who helped recreate an epic voyage for a new Channel 4 documentary will give a talk at the University of Exeter later this month.

Exeter-born Conrad Humphreys stars in Mutiny, in which a team re-live Captain Bligh’s voyage of survival after the mutiny on the Bounty.

The programme follows nine men as they attempt a 4,000-mile trip on a tiny wooden boat using traditional navigation equipment and surviving off the same meagre rations as Bligh’s crew.

Humphreys will speak about leadership, camaraderie, courage and humility on the high seas.

TV channels to beam Devon to global audience

In just three weeks time a TV global audience of millions will tune in to see Devon at its best when the Tour of Britain returns to the county.

In what will be a worldwide showcase for the county on September 9, viewers will be able to watch three hours of live coverage of the Devon Stage of the Tour of Britain.

This year both ITV4 and the BIKE Channel UK will show the race live, while ITV4 will also air a one-hour highlights programme each day.

Exeter church to stream festive services live

The River Church in Exeter is streaming all of their festive services LIVE online.

This is the first time the church has ever done this and after record attendances this year at their regular weekly services (which they also stream LIVE each week) they have decided to bring the festivities directly into peoples homes on their smartphones, tablets or pc’s via their online streaming.
