University of Exeter scientist Dr Fiona Mathews has discovered one of Britain’s rarest mammals living in East Devon. Members of the public were treated to a surprise close encounter with the Grey long-eared bat, believed to be one of only 1,000 individuals in the country, at an event organised by East Devon District Council’s Countryside Service at the Axe Estuary Wetlands.

A world-renowned violinist and a former head of the UK Supreme Court will receive honorary degrees from the University of Exeter on Saturday (16 December).

A world-leading diabetes expert at the University of Exeter Medical School has won a top international Diabetes prize, for understanding and improving care in genetic diabetes worldwide.

The overture used to accompany Chézy’s unsuccessful play Rosamunde was actually composed for an earlier play. It remains one of Schubert’s finest orchestral pieces, filled with ingratiating tunes and demonstrating his characteristic warmheartedness and good humour.
