Christmas is the time for giving so pupils from Exeter Deaf Academy have dressed up as ‘Santa’s Little Helpers’ to ask their local community to give the gift of volunteering this festive season.

In the run up to Christmas, Exeter Deaf Academy need volunteers to give just 3 hours to help sell car raffle tickets in Princesshay Exeter on weekdays, weekends or on a Thursday Late Night Shopping evening.

A new toolkit to help Exeter’s cultural organisations engage and manage their volunteers effectively will be launched at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) on Tuesday 5 July.

New Hospiscare warehouse to open in Honiton

Hospiscare’s massive new warehouse store, filled with furniture, household goods and retro finds will be opened by the Mayor of Honiton on Tuesday 21 June at 10.30am.

The local charity, which last year opened the £1.2m Kings House Day Hospice in the town, are now opening the Dowell Street warehouse shop to help fund the day hospice, where support is provided for local people with a terminal illness.

Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, is delighted to announce that Yvonne Amer has received the inaugural Hazel Ball volunteer of the year award.

The award bears the name of our friend and colleague, Hazel Ball, who we sadly lost in 2015. Hazel first joined our Board in 1980, and was a vocal advocate for the work of our charity throughout her career and in retirement.

Yvonne was recognised for her hard work, reliability and flexibility; and was presented with her award by Hazel’s husband, Jeff Skinner, and their daughters Lydia and Elly.

Exeter Deaf Academy is Princesshay’s official charity for 2016. As part of the Charity support

Mercedes-Benz of Exeter has generously donated a Mercedes-Benz A class worth over £22,000 as a raffle prize, to be sold in Princesshay. 100% of the proceeds from this prominent car raffle will raise thousands of pounds for Exeter Deaf Academy.

The car raffle starts on Thursday 17th March 2016 and we require enthusiastic volunteers to sell tickets on our car raffle stand in the centre of Princesshay on Fridays and Saturdays from this date.

Devon Community Foundation hosted its annual Volunteer of the Year Awards sponsored by Quilter Cheviot, honouring the hard work and achievements of the many volunteers making a real difference in our Devon communities.
