Exeter’s highly successful Cyber Security Awareness Week finally drew to a close - just seven weeks late!

The last event in the sell out programme of events had to be postponed because of snow. But the organisers, Bluegrass Group, were determined the week should finish in style.

Exeter MP Ben Bradshaw has praised the city’s forthcoming Cyber Security Awareness Week for leading the war against increasing online crime.

The sexual health teams at The Centre in Exeter and Barnstaple, part of Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, are taking part in National HIV Testing Week, which runs from 18-25 November 2017. The theme for this year’s National HIV Testing Week is ‘Give HIV the finger’, which promotes the quick and easy finger-prick HIV test. Deaf students mark national Deaf Awareness Week

Exeter Deaf Academy students will be teaching British Sign Language (BSL) and Deaf Awareness to schools, residential homes and shoppers in Exmouth and Exeter.

Activities include College students teaching Deaf Awareness to visitors in Princesshay shopping centre in Exeter, to staff parachuting 15,000 ft from a plane for a brave fundraising challenge in East Devon.

They’re still smiling! Not many people would be if their computer mini server packed with important data accidentally fell into a fish tank.

This demonstration had a happy ending at Exeter’s Cyber Security Awareness Week, where experts stressed the importance of backing up precious data and the dangers of it falling into the wrong hands. Or indeed a threat closer to home, data simply falling into the family fish tank. The server recovered completely from its unexpected dip, hence smiles all round, to the relief of the audience.

Digital Minister praises Cyber Security Week

There’s been more praise for Exeter businesses organising this week’s Cyber Security Awareness Week.

The Minister of State for Digital and Culture, Matt Hancock has sent a message congratulating them on taking the problem head on.
