Exeter Round Table’s annual firework extravaganza returns for its 40th anniversary, in support of Devon Air Ambulance.

This year, the spectacular pyrotechnical display will be synchronised to the music from the Greatest Showman when it returns to Westpoint Arena on Saturday 4th November.

The display, hosted by Radio Exe, will feature fireworks set to the popular musical by Sonic Fireworks, the 2022 British Champions! Not only that, but the spectacle also promises fun for the whole family with funfair rides, various catering outlets, and licensed bars.

Maybe it’s because of the Guy Fawkes season, but I sense this time of year is one of compelling challenge and radical change – a chance to talk of reforming the structures we have created; a time ( kairos ) to believe differently…. Recently, one of the local Baptist churches hosted a showing of ‘The Divide’. Based on Kate Pickett and Richard Wilkinson’s book ‘The Spirit Level’, through personal stories this film illustrates the chasms which now face our broken society. There are the lives of the very rich – the ‘have-a-lots’, contrasted to ‘the haves’ but especially to ‘the ‘have-nots’....

Have fun but stay safe for Ottery Tar Barrels event

The annual Ottery Tar Barrels event is due to take place on Monday 5th November and is likely to attract thousands of visitors to the town. Police are working closely with other agencies, including fire and ambulance services to monitor the event.

The Tar Barrels Committee is reminding visitors to be mindful of their own safety and follow the advice given by marshals on the night.
