Over 3,000 hectares of new woodlands are set to be planted along England’s rivers and watercourses with backing from the country’s leading environmental organisations, Forestry Minister Lord Goldsmith announced on Saturday (25 September). The pretty South Devon coastal town of Dawlish is readying itself for walkers of all ages and abilities as its inaugural walking festival gets ready to ramble from the start of April.
Lasting ten days and commencing on 1st April, the festival will offer more than 30 walks, most of which are free to join. Incorporating a variety of special interests and walks of different lengths, the Festival will take in pretty lanes, the South West Coast Path, woodlands, beaches and much more. Police are appealing for witnesses to a three-vehicle collision in Totnes at the weekend in which a man died.
The fatal collision happened shortly after 11.35am on Saturday 31 January on the A3122 at Blackawton, near the Woodlands junction.
As a result of the collision a 21-year-old man, who was driving a green Volkswagen Polo, was flown to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance but later died as a result of his injuries.
He has been formally identified as Daniel John Foale from the Kingsbridge area. His family have been informed.
