Taylor Wimpey creates new football pitch for Exeter College

Taylor Wimpey is investing almost half a million pounds in Exeter's sporting stars of the future through the development of new facilities for Exeter College.

The housebuilder is creating a new pitch and changing rooms for the college as part of its Riverside Walk development off Wear Barton Road.

The ground was levelled last year and the pitch has now been seeded. The changing rooms are currently under construction and both should be ready for handover to the college by the summer, weather permitting.

If you think all charity shops are the same, think again - the Samaritans’ store in Sidmouth is not only a successful fund-raising outlet but it’s also a unique showcase for some of the area’s best artistic talents.

The shop, located in a former bank building, reopened from lockdown last month and within three weeks had attracted 700 paying customers, providing much-needed financial assistance for the Exeter, Mid and East Devon branch of the charity.

Charities in Exeter urged to bid for a £25,000 prize pot offered by insurance specialist

Charities in Exeter have a chance to win a share of a £25,000 prize pot offered by specialist charity insurer Ansvar’s Community Campaign.

Many good causes in the region have been struggling to raise funds during the pandemic and Ansvar, which has insured charities, churches and voluntary groups for more than 60 years, is offering help.

The money will be split three ways: £15,000 for the overall winner with £5,000 each going to two additional charities.

The competition opens on 10 May, the deadline for entries is 30 June and winners will be notified by 23 July....
