In a show of support to Devon’s dedicated frontline NHS workers, Devon law firm Stephens Scown LLP is offering a 50% discount on Will-writing services to workers in the county.

COVID-19 test could determine whether patients are still infectious

A new test which could detect whether people who have had COVID-19 are still infectious is under development, thanks to funding from Animal Free Research UK.

The charity is providing funding of £52,000 to Professor Lorna Harries at the University of Exeter, who is developing a test that will aim to detect how much active virus an infected person is harbouring – known as viral load. NSPCC fundraising colleagues in the South West of England will be taking on their own challenge as part of the 2.6 Challenge that’s being launched this Sunday to help charities raise money at a time when funding has dropped significantly.

Five leading researchers from across disciplines at the University of Exeter have received prestigious national fellowships, it has been announced.

The Fairchild family from Exeter, Devon are currently raising money for an Innowalk machine for daughter Jessica, 13, who has cerebral palsy. The £25,000 equipment is not funded by the NHS but will help Jessica exercise efficiently, which in turn will help her build up her muscles, reduce stiffness and even improve her digestion.

A grassroots community project has raised an incredible £3000 in aid of their production of vital Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for community-based health and care workers in their first weekend. They are hoping to continue raising around £1000 a day to keep up with the demand for face shields in the local community.
