Hundreds of people flocked to see Exeter's Christmas lights being switched on.

Entertainment was provided by the Exeter University Jazz Orchestra, pantomime performances from Wonder Productions and Pinhoe Pantomime cast and the sounds of the Exeter Universities A-Capella groups.

Charity wins top award for green education

Devon Wildlife Trust is the 2015 recipient of the Devon Environmental Business Initiative (DEBI) Environmental Education Award.

This award category is aimed at those who ‘promote environmental education across Devon recognising schools, colleges, universities, as well as community groups and the business sector who has made a significant contribution to improving environmental education’.

Woman arrested over school bomb hoax

Children at a Devon primary school were evacuated this morning (20 November) following a bomb hoax.

Police received a report of a bomb threat at Heathcoat Primary, Broad Lane, Tiverton at around 9.15am.

The school decided as a precaution to evacuate all pupils at the school to a nearby Church, which the police supported.

Following police investigation at around 11.05am officers arrested a 32-year-old local woman in connection with the incident.

Police can confirm that this was a hoax call and at no time was anyone in any danger.

Rugby clubs to benefit from RWC 2015 legacy

Rugby clubs across England and Wales are benefiting from the legacy of Rugby World Cup 2015 through the distribution of equipment used during the Tournament.

Working closely with the RFU and WRU to ensure that as many clubs as possible are benefiting, 392 clubs in England and 45 clubs in Wales were offered equipment that was used at the venues, ranging from tables and chairs to fencing, lockers and bar furniture.

Devon Delivers ambassadors celebrate anniversary

The first anniversary of the Devon Delivers Ambassadors’ programme has been celebrated by Devon’s business community. A special event was held at Exeter Cathedral to mark a successful first year for the programme, which is part of Devon County Council’s inward investment campaign, while also celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week.
