Classic Car Day at Killerton
Killerton’s 9th Classic Car Day on Sunday 26 May is set to be the biggest yet with a display of over 250 elegant vehicles within the beautiful setting of the historic parkland at Killerton.
The annual event has become a significant event in the classic car world and will once again provide local groups with an opportunity to display their vintage motors and compete to beat last year’s winner for the renowned ‘Killerton House Cup’.
Local owners and clubs will be displaying rare and unusual cars such as the Aston Martin Lagonda, 1967 Ford Mustang, 1948 Riley, Alvis Firebird, Austin Gipsy, Morgans, Rolls Royce and Daimlers to name just a few. Clubs include the Standard Car Club, Ford Anglia Car Club, Devon Vintage Car Club, Torquay Old Wheels Car Club and MX5 Car Club.
Organiser, Christina le Fley said: ‘The first year we did this event we only had a small number of cars on display. Now, nine years later, it’s a massive event as much for local clubs to meet up with one another as to show off their prized classic cars. I couldn’t be more pleased that this event has not only proven popular but still has room to grow. Next year’s 10th anniversary will be a big two-day celebration, so watch this space.’
The 2013 event will also have an additional 30 stalls, family games and a jazz band, adding to the atmosphere on the day. Christina added: ‘All proceeds from this event will fund essential conservation work at Killerton.’
