Sidmouth Christmas Fair for Donkey Assisted Therapy
Visitors are invited to join in with all the fun of a Christmas Fair at The Donkey Sanctuary’s Donkey Assisted Therapy centre in Sidmouth on Saturday 1st December, 10am to 3pm, with free admission and parking.
The centre, which provides therapeutic riding sessions to around 150 local children with additional needs each week, as well as outreach visits with donkeys to residents of nursing homes, hospices and care homes, is determined to make the annual fair bigger and better than ever.
The Sidmouth Donkey Assisted Therapy Centre is renowned for its magnificent Santa’s Grotto. For just £3, children will be able to take a donkey sleigh ride to visit Father Christmas and receive a gift.
Throughout the day there will be a wide range of indoor Christmas craft stalls, great for picking up those perfect gifts, as well as a mini outdoor street market. Other activities available at the fair will include games, carols performed by Sidmouth College Choir and Band, a display by Tiverton Town Majorettes, an auction, a raffle and the opportunity for visitors to have their photo taken with the centre’s popular adoption donkeys.
Lauriel Woodley, centre manager for The Donkey Sanctuary’s Donkey Assisted Therapy centre in Sidmouth, says: “Our fair is a really special way for us to celebrate Christmas and, with such a wide range of activities on offer throughout the day, there’s sure to be something for all the family to enjoy. It’s one of the centre’s biggest fundraising events of the year and we love seeing the children getting so much pleasure visiting Father Christmas in his grotto, whilst the adults can catch up over a coffee and warm mince pie.”
