Exeter's canal basin will become home to the UK's first inland deep water solo competition this weekend.

The event, which runs from Saturday 30th to Sunday 31st August, has attracted top climbers from across the UK and Europe to compete in the first event of it's kind in the UK.

They will climb an artificial wall, without the use of ropes until they reach the top or fall off. If they fall they will fall into the canal basin below. The event mimics a form of climbing known as deep water soloing which is practised on sea cliffs and is growing in popularity.

Come along and watch the spectacle.

There will be climbing all day plus a host of activities put on by the outdoor sports companies around the quayside.

The Quay Climbing Centre will be running free auto belay taster sessions between 11am and 1pm and 3pm and 4pm both days and Clip N Climb will be running have a go sessions throughout the day! Alternatively try out kayaking with Haven Banks or jump from their PowerFan Jump!

Lots of fun all day...come along and see what the fuss is about!
