Victorian circus skills
Roll up, roll up, and join the team at Knightshayes as they host a series of Victorian circus skill workshops this May half-term.
Running from Saturday 24 May through to Sunday 1 June, between 11am and 4pm, the event will give kids of all ages the chance to try their hand at skills like plate spinning, diablo and juggling. Between Monday 26 and Friday 30 May the property will also play host to circus performer, Robin Fox.
With over 12 years’ experience as a professional magician, he specialises in Victorian circus skills, and is also a member of the prestigious Magic Circle.
The event will be held in the beautiful Formal and Woodland Garden, which is in full spring swing, with azaleas, bluebells and rhododendrons at their finest offering the perfect backdrop for a bit of Victorian magic and mayhem.
Rachael Hall, Learning and Engagement Officer for Knightshayes said: "This half term I really wanted to try something a bit different, that got kid’s out and about but also helped teach them a little more about the Victorian period beyond what they might have learnt in school.
Robin Fox will be demonstrating and teaching basic circus skills including stilt walking, juggling, ribbon twirling and unicyling and he’s also bringing along his penny farthing- which visitor will be able to try out- providing we can find somewhere flat enough for him to ride it – a challenge with all the rolling Devon slopes we have here."
The cost of the activities, to include a garden trail about famous circus acts, is £3 and normal admission fees apply. Visitors can spend as long as they like doing the activities throughout the day.
