Devon’s Largest Balloon Festival Returns for 2014!
The annual Tiverton Balloon and Music Festival has confirmed that it will be returning this summer for the fourth consecutive year, raising funds for two very special local charities; Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Children’s Hospice South West. The Festival is due to take place on Friday 11th, Surday 12th and Sunday 13th July 2014 at the combined Petroc and Tiverton High School Campus.

This spectacular weekend will see the skies above Tiverton transformed into a canvas of colour as Hot Air Balloonists from across the UK and beyond travel to Devon to take part in a wide array of activities including the stunning Mass Ascents, Public interaction Sessions and the dazzling Fire and Light Shows.

Speaking of the Tiverton Balloon and Music Festival, Petroc’s Mid Devon Campus Manager, Mark Woodward, said “We are delighted to be involved in the Tiverton Balloon Festival. It’s a fantastic community event for Mid Devon and we will be getting involved, by offering interactive STEM workshops for all the family over the three day event. We will be sponsoring our very own Petroc balloon this year – so look out for it in the skies over Tiverton in the coming months!”

Alongside the Hot Air Balloons there will be two Music Stages showcasing a selection of local and nationwide talent as well as a variety of Aerial Displays featuring RC Helicopters, Public Workshops, an On-Site Planetarium, a Comedy Night (Friday), Falconry Displays, Local Craft Stands, a multitude of delicious Food and Drinks Stalls, and much more besides.

Director of the Tiverton Balloon and Music Festival, Arthur Street, said of this year’s event: “Following such a wonderful 2013 with every flight flown, some great music and record crowds, we look forward to July 2014 with a mixture of excitement, anticipation and a little trepidation at the challenge facing us. For 2014 we have increased the number and diversity of bands performing, have an eclectic mix of both indoor and outdoor entertainment and workshops, including many performances where the public will join the professionals in staging events, and a fabulous array of multi-coloured hot air balloons. Following demand from visitors (many of whom travel for more than 3 hours to the Festival) we have significantly increased the camping capacity, thus allowing visitors to fully enjoy their ‘Entry All 3 Days’ tickets, purchased in advance at the same price as a 1 day ticket purchased on the day.“
