Hands Up For Jonny Wilkinson’s Right Boot

The rugby world cup has well and truly kicked off, what better way to celebrate it than with Live Wire Theatre’s new stage production, Hands Up for Jonny Wilkinson’s Right Boot? Yes, Live Wire Theatre Company are back at The Barnfield Theatre with every rugby fan’s dream theatre show on 16th – 17th October.

Four actors from Live Wire Theatre Company swap roles at incredible speed to bring some of the greatest rugby players to life in this fast-paced comedy, full of song and physical theatre. Look out for the All-Black’s Haka and, of course, Jonny Wilkinson dropping that famous World Cup Winning goal with his right boot.

The cast is led by former Exeter School pupil Giles Coram who has recently starred in the West End in The Mousetrap, Britain’s longest running theatre production.
Giles, who trained at the prestigious Arts Ed drama school, said: “as well as being a hilarious comedy Hands Up for Jonny Wilkinson’s Right Boot offers a fascinating commentary on how rugby was dominated in its early years by British public schools, and excluded players from the working classes or ethnic minorities in its determination to remain an amateur game.”
Earlier this year, Live Wire Theatre Company brought their fantastic productions of Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall to the Barnfield Theatre and this production is sure to be a memorable occasion for rugby lovers and theatre lovers alike.
