The project: A supportive group which will offer creative ways of exploring what living with dementia means to you, helping you develop simple self-care skills, build resilience and connect with others in a similar situation. We’ll be combining art-making, mindfulness and a sensory approach to explore a different theme each week. You don’t need to have any previous experience of these to take part. We’ll use a strengths-based approach that focuses on what you can do, awakening the senses and encouraging an open, enquiring and nurturing spirit within the group. At the end of the project you’ll have a resource folder to take away to help you continue to apply these simple self-care skills in your everyday life.
Who will run the group?
The group will be facilitated by Yuko Micus, an art therapist, and Carrie Clarke, an occupational therapist. We are both registered health professionals and have lots of experience of working creatively with people living with dementia.
