It’s the 150th anniversary of the launch of Lewis Carroll’s renowned novel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and very coincidentally also the Glazebrook House Hotel’s, which itself was built in 1865. So what better way to celebrate this very important date in a suitably eccentric style at the Glazebrook House Hotel’s Alice in Wonderland Fundraising Event in aid of the Devon Air Ambulance on Saturday 4th July 2015.

Guests are invited to don their playing cards and pocket watches, pop their top hats on and come along with their best Cheshire Cat smile as this party has a Wonderland dress code.

The Glazebrook will open its doors at 4.30pm with a Mad Hatter’s afternoon tea and games on the manicured lawn. Guests will also be free to explore the hotel’s magical grounds. Alice inspired ‘drink me’ cocktails and ‘eat me’ canapés will be served as soloist musician, Suzie Mac, performs a range of country and folk songs. After this, guests will take their seats in the Glazebrook’s unique restaurant for a six course ‘Wonderland’ tasting menu, followed by a fundraising auction hosted by BBC’s own David Fitzgerald. To end the anniversary event, guests can dance the night away to the sound of a well-known local band. Blending a unique mixture of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz and bluegrass, this great band never fail to capture their audience with their infectious songs.

Proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, a charity tasked with raising funds to keep Devon Air Ambulances two emergency ambulances flying. Commenting on the event Caroline Creer, fundraising director at Devon Air Ambulance Trust, says: “After reading the article on the Glazebrook House Hotel in the summer edition of our Helipad Magazine last year, it is a pleasure to hear that the hotel have chosen to support the Charity with such a great event! We are grateful to the Glazebrook for holding their Alice in Wonderland Fundraising Event in aid of DAAT and extend our thanks to all who attend.” The charity aims to provide an outstanding, independent and efficient air ambulance service, available to all, 24 hours a day whilst relieving sickness and injury in and around the county of Devon.

Pieter Hamman, the owner of the Glazebrook, says: “We are delighted to be supporting the Devon Air Ambulance as the work they carry out is absolutely vital to ensuring the safety of the Devon community.” He continues: “We are looking forward to seeing everyone in their costumes ready for a truly superb evening.”
