Parents, carers, and people with Down’s syndrome are invited to a special event to discuss the health challenges that people with Down’s syndrome face, and ways in which to tackle them. The ‘Health Swap Talk’ aims to look at ways in which people with the condition can help themselves live a more active and healthier lifestyle.

The session is being put on by the Down’s Syndrome Association and is free for anyone to attend. It will also introduce people to a new app which has been launched by the charity. The ‘Health Swap’ app has been specifically designed to support people with Down’s syndrome and their parents and carers to make positive changes to their lifestyle through healthier eating and activity tracking, and also helps increase their digital skills. The designers of the app will be on hand to walk and talk attendees through its simple design, showing how badges and points can help the user make positive changes to improve their health.

The event will take place on Tuesday 15th October from 19:30 at Sandy Park Stadium Conference and Events Centre, Sandy Park Way, Exeter, Devon, EX2 7NN. The event is free, but registration online beforehand is preferable for numbers. Register here

The Health Swap app is available for free on Apple and Android smartphones and tablets and can be downloaded here.
