Michael Caines Restaurant Candido wine dinner
Candido wine dinner £65.00 per person.
Michael Caines Restaurant is to host a dinner with one of Southern Italy's most notable properties, Candido, on Tuesday 29 October.
Alessandro Candido’s range is perhaps the most diverse and innovative to be found in Puglia, yet the wines continue to offer unbeatable value for money. The climate there is Mediterranean with low rainfall, and ripening takes place slowly due to the striking contrast between day and night-time temperatures, resulting in a strong development of aromas, richness and concentration. This historic, family-owned property continues to amaze under the guiding hand of one of Italy’s top winemakers, Donato Lanati. The wine making itself takes place in two facilities based in Guagnano (in the province of Lecce) and San Donaci (in the province of Brindisi), which are only a few kilometres apart. Although close geographically both perform different functions. In Guagnano the grapes are crushed and vinified using state-of-the-art technology. From there the wines are transferred to San Donaci where they are blended, aged in barrique (where appropriate) before finally being bottled and shipped to market.
This event will be hosted by Francesca Mancarella accompanied by Patrick Pigny from Enotria Wines. The evening will start at 7.00pm with canapés and a glass of Rose, taking seats at 7.30pm in the dining room for a superbly matched menu prepared by Executive Chef, Ian Webber. Guests will enjoy a range of different wine styles from Candido.
