Tasty local treats for sampling on Saturdays
Looking for that locally produced gift or delicious food and drink rarity? Pop into Exeter’s only community-owned Real Food Store on Paris Street to meet some of the latest suppliers at special tasting days throughout November and December.
Store manager Natalie Ohlson is looking forward to a few samples herself. ‘Devon seems to be “choc” full of very talented local producers’, she said, ‘ We’ve got delicious wine from Budleigh Salterton and sugar-free chocolate from Exmoor’ amongst others popping in and offering samples.’
‘Local food and drink is always a popular choice at Christmas as both our regular and new customers endorse,’ continued Natalie. ‘This is our sixth Christmas in Paris Street and the list of local products gets longer every year. Being able to tell people exactly where everything comes from seems to be a real bonus particularly when its comes to fresh meat and happily we are able to offer a good selection of organic and free-range turkeys plus all the other traditional fare.’
The next tasting day is Saturday 26th November with unrefined beer producers Moonchild Brewing Company from Okehampton paying a visit to the store followed by Discover Chocolate on Friday 2nd December, Artisan Chai on Saturday 3rd and Lily Farm Vineyard making an appearance on Saturday 17th December. Meanwhile the Real Food Store is well stocked plenty of other ideas for foodie gifts and a generous range of local beers, ciders and wine from Devon.
The Real Food Store, Bakery and Café is at 11-13 Paris Street, Exeter EX1 2JB and is open Monday to Saturday. Visit: www.realfoodstoreexeter.co.uk for more information.
