A la Ronde, the sixteen-sided National Trust house near Exmouth, showcases the best of local artists in its gallery with a new exhibition every fortnight.

From 2 – 13 March, it’s the turn of staff and volunteers to put their creative talents to the fore as they mount their first ever exhibition.

This is particularly relevant to A la Ronde, as founder cousins Jane and Mary Parminter were enthusiastic crafts people and many examples of their work can be seen inside the house.

The exhibition contains items crafted in a variety of mediums submitted by about twenty staff and volunteers who work within the house, shop and garden teams. Exhibition organizer, Hilary Burrow, said: “The creative talents of the A la Ronde team are as multi-faceted as the house itself. We have many gifted people who enjoy a variety of artistic pursuits and this is the perfect opportunity to showcase their abilities.”

Items on display include paintings in oils, acrylics and watercolours, textiles, embroideries, tapestries and mosaic. There is also a beautiful selection of dolls house craft which reflects the collection in A la Ronde.

Visitors to this remarkable house will be able to see the extraordinary feather frieze and shell gallery, both of which were created by Jane and Mary Parminter on their return from a grand tour of Europe in 1796. There are also many examples of their paper-cutting, decoupage and mosaic work.

A la Ronde is open daily from 2 March to 3 November and entry to the exhibition from 2 to 13 March is free.
