Inspired by Dartmoor
Visitors to the National Park Visitor Centre in Princetown can currently enjoy an exhibition of the work of four members of the West Dartmoor Art Group.
David Mather, Peter Blake, John Streeter and Gloria Sprague will be exhibiting a selection of paintings in different media, all inspired by their love of Dartmoor.
The West Dartmoor Art Group was founded in 2002 and has approximately 50 members in total. Regular painters meet every Wednesday at Peter Tavy Village Hall. It is a friendly and sociable group of painters who work in all sorts of mediums (oil, watercolour, acrylics, pencil and pastels). As well as just painting there are often demonstrations from local accomplished artists and the club holds an annual exhibition in July where funds are raised to support both the Devon Air Ambulance and the Dartmoor Rescue Group.
This exhibition at the National Park Visitor Centre showcases the work of just some of the artists who are regularly creating work inspired by the National Park. It will hopefully encourage others to develop their artistic talents capturing the beauty of our wonderful countryside.
The exhibition runs until Thursday 30 June.
The Centre is open daily from 10am-5pm.
