Exeter art lovers are in for a very rare treat as an exhibition of original Pablo Picasso lithographs, etchings, linocuts and screen prints has been announced by leading gallery, gloss – Art Exeter.

The iconic Spanish modernist was one of the most successful artists of the 20th century and was equally accomplished in a range of media including painting, sculpture, ceramics and fine art prints. This particular exhibition will look at the different methods Pablo Picasso and his contemporaries used to explore their own body of work.

gloss Manager Lucinda Cusdin, who curated the display, said: “We are honoured and thrilled to host this exhibition by one of modern art’s most famous names.  It features a wonderful range of over forty original Pablo Picasso prints, giving people in Devon an opportunity to take a piece of the 20th century home with them.”

The Picasso print exhibition will run alongside a selection of work by gloss-Art Exeter’s current stable of artists including John Hurford SWAc, Yvonne Coomber, Lar Cann SWAc, Arthur Homeshaw RWA and Laura Hudson SWAc. New artist Beth Pearson will also show case a selection of work.

Lucinda Cusdin added: “We hope that this specific selection will communicate the popular methods of reproduction used by old and modern masters. Today many artists use the computer to experiment with and manipulate images of their work, but Picasso and his contemporaries would have used printing methods instead.”

“The Picasso exhibition is a great contrast to gloss’ more contemporary exhibitions and includes exclusive works from different suites; colour, movement and skill vibrate throughout these surreal but joyful prints.

Pablo Picasso selected prints will run from Saturday 18 January to Sunday 9 March at gloss-Art Exeter , No.1 Barnfield Crescent, Exeter .

Open 9.30am-5.30pm Wednesday to Thursday, 9.30am-6pm Friday and Saturday.
