Parish Maps: Reflecting on the Legacy - 17 April-16 July
Parish Maps: Reflecting on the Legacy | 17 April – 16 July
Monday - Friday, 8.30-5.30pm, Innovation Centre, University of Exeter
Parish Mapping began with the UK-based arts and environmental charity Common Ground in the 1980s but the idea has spread around the world. Exhibited here together for the first time are English, Scottish, Northern Irish, Italian, Latvian and American maps. How do we articulate our care for familiar places? What different things do we value from one place to the next? At a time when our ecosystems are being assessed nationally for their ‘capital contribution’ as ‘services’, this exhibition looks at the different ways local values and feelings for a place have been articulated by the people who live there.
